History
El Paso has a deep history going all the way back from the year 1680, when the city was founded. Orginalaly the city was founded by the name El Paso del Norte. El Paso del Norte now is named Ciudad Juarez, which is the Mexico border town of El Paso. A lot of the architecture in El Paso stems from the El Paso Historic Mission Trail. The type of architecture is widely displayed at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). The name of El Paso comes from "The Passageway to the North."
El Paso was laid out in the year 1859 to serve as part of a route to California. In 1881 four railways were built which quickly expanded the city. The Spanish language and culture is deeply embedded, this makes the city very diversed. The city is also used as an international gateway to Juarez, Mexico.
